Artist Call Out
About the Project
Wonder Arts are delighted to share that we are receiving funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a new project with Men and Their Children (MATCH) as part of our Communities of Wonder programme of activities.
We are partnering with 2 groups of dads and their children at Sutton and Newton Family Hubs, St Helens. The age range is varied, 1-13 yr olds but it is largely a space for dads of under 2s. During consultation, the group have told us they want the project to be child-centred, but to also explore the theme of being dad and are interested in using a range of sensory and visual arts to contribute to an early-years publication of rhymes, visual arts, activities and parenting tips.
We are looking to work with an arts practitioner to engage with the 2 groups over 6 sessions each to co-create the publication. The digital skills to edit images of the group’s work, rhymes and parenting tips into the final 20-page publication are desirable but not essential. This should incorporate a supportive, positive and family-friendly message. Experience of early years facilitation is essential.
Fee
The fee to deliver this project is £1,750; this includes planning time, workshop delivery and publication compilation. There is a separate materials budget of up to £550 with ethically sourced materials at the heart.
Timescales & Schedule
The 12 sessions will run on Saturdays between January – June 2025 (exact dates to be agreed) 10am-12pm with a celebration event during the final session.
Action: Please submit a written proposal in response to this commission brief. As the groups will be involved in precuring the right artist, please also submit a brief video proposal pitched at young people and their dads. This should be no more than 3 minutes. Your proposals should detail your artistic approach, outline potential content of delivery sessions and examples of your previous work. You may submit links to online portfolios to support your proposal. The deadline for the written and video proposals is noon on Friday 29th November.
Please email both the written and video submissions to emma@wonderarts.co.uk. Let us know if you have any access requirements.
