Exploring what makes families unique and WONDERFUL

As a member of the Big Imaginations Network, we were recently fortunate enough to support the fabulous All Ways Good Company as they devised a brand new family show, “Hold Your Own”

Dora & Jane; circus performers, acrobats and story catchers held a day of workshops with families from St Helens which explored what makes families unique and wonderful.

We shared stories of pets, family traditions, jokes, some brilliant holiday stories and demonstrated some wacky party tricks which showcased a whole array of unique talents from bendy limbs, funny voices, shaky eyes and even nose trumpeting!

Families worked together to learn some acrobatic skills and put their familial bonds to the test using their bodies to support each other and pull off some daring poses.

Following the workshops, our delightful mother and daughter duo took all that they had learned and spent some time creating a brand new show for families. In just a few short days the pair had devised a show which celebrated the uniqueness of families, featuring daring acrobatics displays, tangled hairstyles and a story about a family, wave, flying fish and a nose trumpeting mermaid.

Families who attended the sharing of the performance described it as “inspirational”, “emotional”, “fun”, “creative”, “moving” and “amazing”

We had such a good time working with families and Dora & Jane and we cannot wait to see what happens next and how they develop the show further.
