Wonderfest

Wonder arts are delighted to announce that they have been awarded funding from the European Regional Development Fund/Welcome Back Fund to present two days of wonderful free family shows and entertainment in St Helens.

Families are invited to join local arts charity wonder arts for Wonderfest; a free family festival which will be taking place in Earlestown Town Centre on Saturday 19th March, 10am – 2pm and in St Helens Town Centre on Saturday 26th March, 10.30am – 4pm.

On 19th March, Phileas Fogg and his travelling companions will be joining us on ‘Day 79’ of their trek around the world, touching down in Earlestown just in time for the festivities to begin.  Families will be treated to a beautiful puppetry show as a heavily laden postman gets caught in a rainstorm and loses all of the labels from his parcels in ‘Special Delivery’.  Finally, we’ll be visited by two huge bewildering beasts that bring Earlestown to life as they twist through the Town Centre, each one ready to perform together with a musical composition like you have never heard before in ‘The Lost Opera’

‘The Lost Opera’ will be making another appearance in St Helens Town Centre the following Saturday, this time joined by even more wonderful experiences for families. ‘The Naughty Sheep’ will be let loose on the street, causing a little bit of mayhem and audiences will be dazzled by the stunning ‘Sweep of Swallows’ kite performance.  For those families who have tiny wonders, ‘Underwater’; a gorgeous show for babies will be taking place in Parish Church Hall.

All activities are completely free but a place will need to be booked to attend the ‘Underwater’ show for babies. For more information about the wonderful shows coming to both town centres or to book tickets for ‘Underwater’ head to the website www.wonderarts.co.uk

Chief Executive, Fay Lamb says: “At wonder arts we believe that magical, artistic experiences have the power to change lives. We have always loved bringing wonderful performances for children, families and young people to St Helens Town Centre and thanks to the Welcome Back Fund we’re able to extend that experience to Earlestown. We can’t wait to welcome even more families to our world of fun, creativity, inspiration and wonder.
