Boys will be Boys

We were thrilled to welcome poet, Zohab Zee Kahn and to St Helens to conduct some research and development for his piece “Boys will be Boys”. Working with students from Hope Academy, Zohab performed a reading of the piece and explored the themes and characters with the young people.

After discussions around toxic masculinity, stereotypes and gender roles, the students were then tasked with writing their own version of the poem. We were absolutely blown away by some of the poetry that was produced and can’t wait to see how this helps Zohab to shape his piece before he returns to St Helens with the performance.
