Exploring Natural Heritage

Our Young Wonders were lucky enough to be invited to Sutton Manor Dream Site to learn all about the natural heritage of the site.

As part of our National Heritage Lottery funded project: Dreams of Wonder, we were guided through the space by the wonderful Phil from Forestry England who worked brilliantly with our young people.

Even though the weather was cold and grey, we had a fantastic time with Phil, who explained about the different plant life we would find at various places, the many species of animals and insects that inhabit the space and how the are has changed since its days as a busy coal mining site.

To end our session we got the chance to get creative with chalk and take over a section of the echo wall. By the end of this project we will hopefully have a section of this wall turned into a piece of public artwork for everyone to enjoy when they visit the woodland area.
